Chiropractic saved my life!

LaFay Family Chiropractic Chiropractor, Stephen LaFay

Dr. LaFay

Before I was a chiropractor I was a chiropractic patient. In 1990 I had a life-changing car accident, which left me with debilitating lower back pain. After 8 months of physical therapy and medication with little change, I visited an orthopedic surgeon. His advice was to learn to live with it – “you’re only 20 years old, too young for surgery – come back in 20 years if you’re still in pain”. On the advice of a friend I went to see a chiropractor, who was the first person to physically touch me, explain what was wrong, and give me hope. So began my healing process. Before long, the constant, stabbing pain was diminished and I was able to be more active – something I had not been able to do for months. I was grateful to be able to do the small things, like put on my own socks! Within months I was playing hockey again – I had my life back. Chiropractic saved my life! I knew I wanted to share the transformative power of chiropractic with as many people as possible.

Chiropractic Education

Dr. LaFay has a Psychology degree from the University of Western Ontario, 2 years of Pure and Applied Sciences at York University, and graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1997.

Chiropractic Philosophy

We believe in the natural, inborn ability of the body to heal itself. By finding areas of misalignment of the spine and correcting them, we allow the nervous system to flow more freely. This enables the body to do what is natural – to heal. When alignment is properly maintained, the body functions optimally and thereby allows you to be able to do what you love. When you feel better, you are able to enjoy life to the fullest!

Family

Dr. LaFay is happily married with two children, whose soccer and hockey teams he has coached for several years. He is an avid reader, a hockey player and a passionate golfer during the summer (which is never long enough!).

Health Habits

Dr. LaFay says, “I do my best every day to walk my talk” – by getting adjusted weekly, eating fresh foods, working out regularly, and most of all, “do what I love and love what I do!”
